Inquiring Minds Want to Know

Sharing wisdom from the path.

When my husband, Doug, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, my own inquiring mind desperately wanted to know. I had countless questions, yet very few meaningful answers or insights.

Over the course of our sixteen-year journey with dementia, some were answered through experience. Others led me toward deeper understanding, compassion, and perspective. Some still linger, but I now gratefully describe as having some PTSW — Post Traumatic Stress Wisdom.

In the stories of my memoir, “Quandary With Questions” (pp. 18–21), and throughout Illuminating the Alzheimer’s Path, I share my new-found wisdom for the questions people asked of me and the questions I had of Alzheimer’s.

I am passionate about sharing this wisdom to inspire others coming behind us on the Alzheimer’s path.

Although no two Alzheimer’s (or any type of dementia) journeys are the same, perhaps we can continue learning from one another.

After reading my memoir, what does your “inquiring mind” still want to know?

Ask me and I will happily respond for the benefit of all of us. Sometimes a wondering or a question opens the door to a new way of seeing. Let’s keep learning together.
